Cold blueing
Why cold chemical burnisher?
- The cost of the energy used during the treatment are zero.
- Security: use at ambient temperature, no caustic salts, produces no smoke or harmful vapors, ease dilution in water.
- Immediate use, no heating needed.
- We use polyethylene tanks and not expensive tanks like stainless steel or glass.
- Control of the solution: just check the rate of change of the color and the filtering is very simple.
- Locali di lavoro: devono semplicemente avere una fonte di acqua.
- Work premises: simply must have a source of water.
- It can burnish all types of steel excluding the inox.

Use
easy
to use
The Koldblak is a product easy and safe to use with all kinds of steel, with the exclusion of stainless.
all types
of steel
Using the product on all types of steel, with the exclusion of stainless steel, it creates an exceptional protection of black oxide.
use of
water-repellent liquid
Following immersion of the material in a fluid repellent: paraffin type, wax, the Koldblak creates a complete finish and corrosion resistant without giving dimensional changes.
safe
and economical
This finish may be considered not only equal to that produced with the traditional method of the bath with hot caustic salts, but even better.

How to use
How to use the cold burnisher Jenolite Koldblak®
Degreasing
PRELIMINARY OPERATION
It is necessary to completely eliminate any rust on the steel part that or object that you want to burnish, after that the material should be degreased with items easy to find: acetone, trichlorethylene and the like.
COVER
about 4 m²
The coverage capacity of the solution is approximately 4 square meters per liter of concentrated solution of Koldblak. The burnishing also settles on already burnished parts as long as these have been correctly decreased.
cold chemical burnisher
IN 4 SIMPLE STEPS
First step
Prepare a solution of Koldblak with 25% concentration (three volumes of water and one of koldblak) at room temperature (15-25 ° C) for a period that can vary between 5 and 15 minutes.
Second step
After that you need to rinse the item with clean water for 30 seconds. Rinse accurately at the end of the operation to stop the reaction. Fix the black finish by treating the part with an oily protective product.
Third step
Finally, if you wish you can treat the object with water repellents (such as paraffin wax).
Fourth step
The browning layer reaches its maximum hardness after 24 hours.

Tips
Useful tips for using the cold burnisher for metals Jenolite Koldblak®.
Preparation
of the solution
Running water can be used, the use of distilled water does not bring any advantage.
Maximum dilution
concentration 25%
It is advisable not to dilute more than 25% of Jenolite Koldblak, as excessive dilution leads to an effect of dustiness on the surface.
Time needed
The maximum immersion time must not exceed 15 minutes.
With a freshly prepared solution the time required for the burnishing time is 5 minutes, which increases up to 15 minutes when the solution is much used.
Storage of the solution
in case of prolonged non-use
When not using the product, it is advisable to cover the container containing the Koldblak solution.
BATHS
IN POLYETHYLENE
It is advisable not to use steel or glass tanks, but only use polyethylene (plastic) baths.
FILTER THE SOLUTION
IT WILL EXTEND THE USE TIME
The filtering of the sediments will prolong the time of use of the solution and will allow to obtain better results. Before filtering it is advisable to let the solution stand for 12 hours after which drain and transfer the clean liquid leaving the sediments on the bottom of the container which must be eliminated.

Advantages
Why use cold browning? Advantages of using Jenolite Koldblak® compared to the traditional method.
energy costs
Koldblak
None
To use the cold burnisher the indicated temperature: 15-25°C.
traditional method
High
The temperature of the solution must be 140°C.
safety
Koldblak
LOw
Using the burnisher at room temperature does not produce harmful fumes or vapors. Dilution in water.
traditional method
HIGH
Because it is used at high temperature produces harmful fumes or vapors. Strongly caustic.
ease of use
Koldblak
low
No heating. Easy to dispose of the solution afther use.
traditional method
High
Long periods of heating (up to 6 hours).
Expensive disposal after use.
plant
Koldblak
low
Low cost plant costs. Only polyethylene(plastic) tanks/baths are used. It requires a source of running water.
traditional method
high
High plant costs because the operation can only take place at a dedicated plant. Use of expensive stainless steel / glass tanks.
monitoring the solution
Koldblak
Easy
Just check the speed of the color change. Filtering is very simple.
traditional method
High difficulty
The control is difficult. It can only be assessed by the boiling temperature of the solution.

ALL TYPES OF STEEL
All types of steel can be burnished excluding stainless steel. Tempered steels may require acid pre-treatment.
traditional method
ALL TYPES OF STEEL
As in the case of Koldblak, only certain types of steel can be used. Difficult to dry the caustic salts.
